Los Molles, Chile
My last weekend in Chile was one of the best trips ever. Longtime friends from High School took me to a place called Los Molles – about 45 minutes North of my favorite beach Maitencillo. We got a house right at the beach with an ocean view for a fraction what you’d pay in California. No wifi, no TV – Just friends, alcohol, food, and music. Nothing to do but hang out with each other, talk , dance, and cook. We shut off the world and enjoyed being in a beautiful place with good people…something everyone should do once in awhile!

Wine! Lots and lots of wine..
Day 7: The Clinic
Smoking inside is over in Chile!
Las Amigas drinking Pisco Sours – my favorite!
Day 6: El Centro
My dad loves making himself laugh before a photo is taken : )
The first time I have ever seen THIS : Kids in Chile who start college I guess go through this type of hazing.
They walk around with paint all over themselves; anything disgusting like eggs, “liquids” from animals, flour… I can’t even make up the crusty stuff I saw in their hair.
They smell.
They also have to ask for a certain amount of money before they’re finished humiliating themselves!
They are walking around with their pants ripped off and no shoes…
I’m glad I didn’t go to college here !
Michelle!
(that’s her SECOND empanada)
THIS is the famous empanada de Pino. It has meat, onions, black olives, boiled egg, and a seasoning I don’t know.
My grandma used to make these for us when I was younger and crave it when I visit.
Order it with a Chilean salad: onions, tomotos, and cilantro –
RICO!

Day 4: Bellas Artes
Today I went to Bellas Artes, which is sort of like the “Brooklyn” of Santiago. The artsy ‘hip’ area of the city ..
We checked out the museum first..
“Unidos en la Gloria y en la Muerte”
Hard.
Belleza
This painting is called “Cabeza” (Head) — I like the chaotic colors and the movement in this piece so much

Providencia, Santiago is my second home.
This time of year is so wonderful because the weather is perfect and the trees are so green !
During the week everyone either walks or rides their bike.

Santiago, Chile: Day 2
Jet-lag didn’t hit me as hard here as my Japan/Thailand trip. We were vampires for a good week out in Asia. Here, I woke up at about noon and felt pretty normal!
My dad and Michelle picked me up for lunch at Da Dino’s– the cheesiest, most delicious pizza in the city by far!
We ordered Salmón Ahumado and Hawaiano! Yum.
We all had a good 2 hours catching up on life .. Drinking good beer..
the Original Capitan Memo
It was a pretty relaxed day, took some shots of the city’s buildings– Chileans love architecture!
Here’s a new, pretty one in the center of it all
Chileans also love to make a quick buck — they will entertain you at every red light by dancing, playing with fire, cheerleading, comedy acts – lo que sea!
We then went to the new GINORMOUS mall in Providencia – 7 levels! It’s a great mall actually, they’re catching up with a lot of stores from the U.S. like Steve Madden, MAC Cosmetics, Aldo, H&M .. they even have a machine in the parking lot that finds your car when you forget where you parked. Catch up America!
I ended up having a mellow night at home and caught up on good sleep.
On to day 3!

Santiago, Chile trip #6: Day 1
I arrived in Santiago at 7am , barely sleeping 2 hours out of the 13 hour flight. My dad was waiting for me since 6:45 but couldn’t find him for a good hour ; it didn’t help when his phone died. Great! When I did find him we hugged and headed for the car when I saw this sweet dog as homeless as could be. There are A LOT of homeless doggies here in Chile unfortunately, but Dad says it’s only gotten better over the years. My heart breaks for them!
I pet him a couple minutes and of course he followed me – I always fall for it. Sorry buddy!
My dad and I go to breakfast after not seeing eachother for a year!
I get to my rented apartment in Providencia ( thanks JoDee for recommending Airbnb.com, it’s the best!)
It’s pretty cute and comfortable, I have a little kitchen and everything.
After that LONG flight I hopped in the tub and caught up on some reading
Messing around til our dinner at my cousin Panchita’s house..
